On Tuesday September 18th, the fourth edition of the European ReUse Conference was held in Brussels. Organised by the European Federation of Associations of Beer and Beverages Wholesalers (CEGROBB), the Associations of Small and Independent Breweries in Europe (S.I.B.) and the German Environmental Aid (DUH), the conference’s main goal was to demand for a higher level of commitment for refillable beverage packaging. National quota for reusable packaging for deposit scheme (Pre-waste Factsheet 100)
The German Packaging Ordinance (Verpackungsverordnung - VerpackV) January 1, 2009, has the purpose to avoid and to reduce the environmental impacts of waste arising from packaging. It sets the minimum packaging quota for reusable drink packaging and one-way packaging containers deemed ‘ecological advantageous’ must be namely 80%. This quota target mainly glass and plastics, in particular mineral water and beer.
